Kruger - Get FAT, Don't Die

The reading started out as a reading tool for myself because it describes in great detail the life of a individual living with HIV or AIDS in today's society. The scientific factors about nutrition, drug regiments and diet were new to me and informative. As nursing student and chef the facts were hard to disagree with. The fact about how the body is so comprised and that the slightest problem will totally effect the way a persons would eat.The fact on how protein is important to maintain body weight even under such extreme complications was important.

The facts about HIV and AIDS in today's society are very well known and the stigma attached to the disease. Little do we know the number of serious problems that go with it. The self esteem issues with such weight loss. The a problems with eating even when you know you need to but physically can't.

There were some issues that I had problems with, such as the constant fun being made of the gay culture. I realize that humor can bring some serious medical problems into a more livable perspective. When your making fun of yourself constantly in the article or magazine ,how can a person use the information seriously. That is just a point of view from a healthily initial. If I need some advice on nutrition ,surly the information would be sound advice without a snicker or altitude.

In conclusion for the article ,the nutritional need of a individual suffering from HIV or AIDS should be assessed with a little more conviction than humor
